An exquisite antique Georgian Mourning brooch from the late 1700s made in remembrance of a deceased loved one. It’s modelled in 18ct gold with three dangling droppers, decorated with seventeen deep red flat cut garnets, symbolising undying love and an assortment of seed pearls that represent tears.
The back of the brooch hides a concealed locket of plaited brown hair belonging to a loved one from long ago. It’s been preserved behind a glass window so that a piece of them was always kept close to the wearer's heart.
It’s been beautifully preserved over the centuries and was clearly very dear to its original owner and deserves to be treasured once more.
We recommend you insure for £1,700. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
